Pakistan to host Bangladesh for five-match T20I series in May
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced that Pakistan will host Bangladesh for a five-match T20I series later this month. Initially part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP) as a series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, the format has now been revised. In preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup next year, both cricket boards have agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is.
According to the PCB press release, the series will take place from May 25 to June 3 in Faisalabad and Lahore.
Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which recently hosted the inaugural Champions One-Day Cup and the National T20 Cup, will stage the first two T20Is on May 25 and May 27. This marks the return of international cricket to the venue after 17 years — its last match being an ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh in April 2008. The stadium has a rich history, having hosted 24 Test matches and 16 ODIs from 1978 to 2008.
The remaining three T20Is will be held at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on May 30, June 1, and June 3. All matches are scheduled to start at 8:00 PM local time.
Bangladesh is set to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will train at the Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to May 24.
